Cenote Zací — el más cercano
A 10 minutos caminando desde la Calzada de los Frailes. Es un cenote semiabierto, con parte de la bóveda derrumbada dejando entrar luz natural, rodeado de vegetación y con área de restaurante. Ideal si no quieres rentar auto ni moverte lejos.
Cenotes de Dzitnup: X'kekén y Samulá
A unos 7 km del centro (15-20 minutos en auto o taxi), son dos cenotes subterráneos casi contiguos — cavernas con estalactitas, raíces colgantes y aguas turquesa muy fotogénicas. Suelen tener más afluencia turística, así que conviene ir temprano.
Cenote Suytún
El famoso de la plataforma circular con el rayo de luz — sí, esa foto que has visto mil veces en Instagram. Está a unos 25 minutos del centro. Vale la pena, pero llega antes de las 10am para evitar fila para la foto en la plataforma.
Cenote San Lorenzo Oxman
A 25-30 minutos, dentro de una antigua hachenda henequenera. Tiene una plataforma para saltar (opcional) y columpio sobre el agua — de los más divertidos para ir en grupo.
Cenote Ik Kil, cerca de Chichén Itzá
Si vas a Chichén Itzá, este cenote está a unos 3 minutos de la zona arqueológica — perfecto para combinarlo en el mismo día. Es más profundo y espectacular visualmente, con lianas colgando desde 26 metros de altura, aunque también el más concurrido.

Usa siempre bloqueador biodegradable (muchos cenotes lo exigen para proteger el ecosistema) y ve temprano — antes de las 11am la diferencia en afluencia es enorme. A 10-minute walk from Calzada de los Frailes. It's a semi-open cenote, with part of its vault collapsed letting in natural light, surrounded by vegetation and with an on-site restaurant. Ideal if you don't want to rent a car or travel far.
Dzitnup cenotes: X'kekén and Samulá
About 7 km from downtown (15-20 minutes by car or taxi), these are two nearly adjacent underground cenotes — caverns with stalactites, hanging roots, and highly photogenic turquoise water. They tend to get busier, so go early.
Cenote Suytún
The famous one with the circular platform and the light beam — yes, that photo you've seen a thousand times on Instagram. It's about 25 minutes from downtown. Worth it, but arrive before 10am to avoid a line for the platform photo.
Cenote San Lorenzo Oxman
25-30 minutes away, inside a former henequen hacienda. It has a jumping platform (optional) and a swing over the water — one of the most fun for a group visit.
Cenote Ik Kil, near Chichén Itzá
If you're heading to Chichén Itzá, this cenote is about 3 minutes from the archaeological site — perfect to combine on the same day. It's deeper and visually more dramatic, with vines hanging from 26 meters up, though also the most crowded.
